When Alex pays Joe a surprise visit, however, they both discover that when it comes to love, it’s always better with a twist.

My Review

Alex and Joe were a hot mess! She’s neurotic and he’s not the man she expected to meet. They certainly are a pair that make for an interesting story. It was laugh out loud funny! The humor was actually the main selling point for me.

Here’s the breakdown: Alex is determined to break out of her shell and meet her long distance email pen pal. She travels to his hometown to surprise him, but ends up with the surprise of her life. The man she thought she’d been communicating with all these months has no idea who she is.

Here’s what I enjoyed: The humor! Alex is hilarious. All her little idiosyncrasies had me laughing out loud. I don’t think I’ve read a character quite like her. It was refreshing.

The supporting character and family drama was entertaining. OMG! The match-making schemes were so funny!

I liked Joe’s character, but he didn’t really get my motor revving. He was a bit too sweet and gentle. I also didn’t like the way he handled the conflict. I get it, but didn’t love it.

Overall, this is a witty and engaging story with heart. I laughed, I cried, and was completely entertained. My only issues were my slight problem with the conflict and the slowburn at the beginning of the book. Other than that, if you like sweet heroes and quirky heroines this book is for you!

I rate it:  four-stars
