They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.
She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.
◄◄My Thoughts ►►
This was my first read from L. J. Shen. It will not be my last!
This book was unbelievable…like seriously!! Some of the shit this guy says blew my mind! I went from laughing out loud to gasping in horror at his outlandish behavior. However, I was thoroughly entertained. It’s as though Leigh Shen read the everyday ordinary definition of a romance hero, took it all in, flipped both middle fingers up, while saying screw that!!! She proceeded to create the exact opposite.
Baron “Vicious” Spencer is rude, shrewd, and lewd in all the best ways possible. He’s damaged goods and makes no excuses for his behavior. Granted he has reasons for being that way, but he takes alpha-hole to a whole new level. A level I totally got off on. He’s over the top entertaining.
“Spending time with my staff reminded me why humans were my least favorite creatures.”
He ruins Emilia’s life with seemingly no regret.
“I smirked arrogantly and tilted my head to one side. “Doesn’t it feel like we’ve come full circle? The daughter of the help becomes…” I dragged my tongue across my lower lip. “The help?”
But don’t feel bad for Emilia, she not only withstood his torment, but at times gave as good as she got. I really enjoyed her feisty moments.
“Do you know how to use an iPad?” I asked slowly. “Do you know how to talk to people without inspiring their gag reflex?” she responded, mimicking my tone and cocking her head.”
Eventually, these two move beyond their issues and give in to the love and affection that has been lurking under the surface since the day they met.

This book was an unexpected treat. Vicious is one of the best anti-heroes I’ve ever read! The shock value alone, was worth the price of admission. I’m ready for more!
