Goodreads Blurb:

Kacey Dawson has always lived life on the edge–impulsively, sometimes recklessly. And now, as lead guitarist for a hot up-and-coming band, she is poised at the brink of fame and fortune. But she is torn between wanting to be a serious musician, and the demons that lure her down the glittering, but alcohol-soaked path of rock stardom. A wrecked concert in Las Vegas threatens to ruin her career entirely. She wakes up with the hangover from hell and no memory of the night before, or how she ended up on her limo driver’s couch… Jonah Fletcher is running out of time. He knows his situation is hopeless, and he’s vowed to make the most of the handful of months he has left to him. His plans include seeing the opening of his glass installation at a prestigious art gallery…they do not include falling in love with a wild, tempestuous rock musician who wound up passed out on his couch. Jonah sees that Kacey is on a path to self-destruction. He lets her crash with him for a few days to dry out and get her head on straight. But neither of them expected the deep connection they felt, or how that connection could grow so fast from friendship into something more. Something deep and pure and life-changing…something as fragile as glass, that they both know will shatter in the end no matter how hard they try to hold on to it.

My thoughts:

Beautiful, poignant, and breath-taking.  Those words come to mind when summing up Full Tilt by Emma Scott.  This is such a moving story about self-discovery, love, and loss.  To prepare yourself for this emotional journey, have plenty of Kleenex on hand.

I’m not lying about Kleenex, folks.  My stomach aches from the body wracking sobs and I have no more tears left to cry.  I’m actually surprised my iPad hasn’t short circuited from all the tears.  This book is heart-wrenching, raw, and like a punch to the stomach, but I’ve never felt better.  It’s a beautiful love story that will leave a lasting impression.  I sincerely appreciated this brilliant gift Emma Scott has shared with her readers!

“I commit these moments to memory with the hope I might take them with me wherever I went next.”

I’m not going to attempt a summary at this point. Instead, I’d like to say this book is all about beauty, emotions, and taking control of moments in time – living life to the fullest.  The main characters, Jonah and Kacey are both flawed and real.  Their situation is gut-wrenching and heart-breaking, but I haven’t read anything more beautiful in a very long time. Sometimes, reading strictly for pure pleasure takes a back seat to discovering something truly special.  That’s what Full Tilt is.    It’s an emotional journey that left me panting for me.

“You.  My thoughts are filled with you.  Always.”

I know I take the little things for granted and need to be reminded to slow down and live in the moment.  I’m sure a lot of us do.  That’s the message I got while reading this book.  There are some things in life we absolutely cannot control, but how we respond to them and the choices we make when faced with difficult situations is what life is all about.

“The little moments. We have so many. Thousands upon thousands.”

Overall, this is a thought provoking and profoundly beautiful tales of love and loss.  Read this book.  You’ll cry (like seriously ugly cry), but you won’t be sorry!

  1. I’m so happy you loved it Tijuana! I had no tissues left either and had to use paper roll (LOL). Now I also fell in love with Dale Chihuly’s work and my next visit in Las Vegas will be the Bellagio!

    1. Sophie,
I’ve actually been and seen most of the sites. That’s made me cry even more because I love Vegas so much. I’ll have to show you my drunk pictures from the Bellagio…if I can find one that’s not too blurry 😂😂😂
