Review: Top Shelf (Aces Hockey #3)

Top Shelf

Top Shelf by Kelly Jamieson is book three in the Chicago Aces Hockey series.  Jared Rupp, a Chicago Aces hockey player and restaurant owner is not looking for love, but sparks fly immediately when he meets Sydney Frayne.

The two main characters are both strong and likeable.  Jared initially comes across as Mr. Hotshot Hockey player, but there’s so much underneath his pretty face and expensive clothes.  Sydney comes across as tough as nail and no-nonsense, but again there’s so much underneath. She’s been hurt in the past and will do whatever it takes to avoid a repeat.  Jared has other thoughts, and makes it his mission to break down her walls.  Jamieson develops both characters very well.

This was a near perfect read for me.  There wasn’t a lot of wasted exposition.  We jump right into the flirty banter between the main characters early in the book and it only gets better from there.  Top Shelf has it all – heart-wrenching real-life situations, fun flirty banter, super-hot romance, adrenaline fueled sports action, great secondary characters, and did I mention Super-Hot Romance?!  I haven’t read many sports centered romances and know nothing about hockey, but I know I want to read more books in this series!

I rate it 5 stars
